Theresa Caputo And Familiar Spirits

30 Mar
It always amazes me whenever I hear Christians say they believe in ghosts or that they had a visitation from the spirit of a deceased loved one. The Bible never not once refers to humans as spirits. It tells us that spirits are either angels or demons. The Bible is very clear that the dead have nothing to do with the living. In Luke 16 there’s a story about a beggar named Lazarus and a rich man. Lazarus is in Abraham’s Bosom. The rich man is in Hades, suffering in torment. There is a wide gulf between Hades and Abraham’s Bosom and one can never cross over to the other side. The rich man begs father Abraham to send Lazarus to warn his 5 brothers on earth that they need to repent.
Abraham refuses and says the living have Moses and the Prophets, let them listen to them.’ The Rich man then says: ‘But if someone from the dead goes to them, they will repent.’ Abraham responds:  ‘If they do not listen to Moses and the Prophets, they will not be convinced even if someone rises from the dead.’  Here we see that the dead do not get involved in the affairs of the living.

Not long after my wife and I got married she told me about how her late grandmother would sometimes talk to her at night when she was alone. I was shocked and a bit upset. She said her grandmother looked the same and was always very kind. I told my wife that this was satan in disguise. The devil can take on any form and can even appear as an angel of light. In the early 1800’s, a teenaged boy claimed to have been visited by an angel of light and this visitation gave birth to one of the fastest growing cults: Mormonism.

It wasn’t long before satan began to show some of his true colors when this so-called spirit of my wife’s dead grandmother, had begun giving her advice about our marriage and was even interfering and suggesting that she leave me. I told my wife she needed to rebuke the devil in Jesus’ name and he will flee. I then went around the house with a cup of  Olive Oil, going from room to room and demanding that satan leave. Then I asked God to bless our home. Christians should never dabble in the occult. We are to have nothing to do with the spirit world. My wife was coming out of ten years of Mormonism and believed that ” familiar spirits” were good.

There’s a show on TV called: “The Long Island Medium.” Theresa Caputo claims to talk with the dead.Whether she’s for real or not, I don’t know, but she is treading dangerous ground by even attempting to speak with spirits. Theresa is very personable, outgoing and funny, a real bubbly personality. No doubt she has a gift, but it is not a spiritual gift from God. It is something hatched from the pit of hell. The occult is dangerous and God forbids us from having anything to do with it.

Deut. 18:10 There shall not be found among you any one that maketh his son or his daughter to pass through the fire, or that useth divination, or an observer of times, or an enchanter, or a witch,
Deut. 18:11 Or a charmer, or a consulter with familiar spirits, or a wizard, or a necromancer.

We all know what happened to King Saul. He sought out the witch of Endor who had a familiar spirit, for help in communicating with the deceased Samuel. The witch summoned the “spirit” of Samuel not from heaven, but up from the grave.  Saul died for his transgression which he committed against the Lord, even against the word of the Lord which he kept not, and also for asking of a familiar spirit, to inquire. Saul communicated with a demonic spirit, it was not Samuel. Witchcraft is a sin. As are using crystal balls, tarots cards and holding seances A familiar spirit  is not an angel  because God condemns against consulting with them. A familiar spirit is a demonic spirit..

I have a friend who is a medium but is a strong christian. What I mean by Christian is not merely going to church every sunday but having a relationship with the Father on a daily basis. And what he does blesses everyone around him and that is love. People have gifts and talents and all of us have different ones. I think it is fair to say that the only way to know what you are doing is right or wrong is why and what you are doing with your talents. Whether it was for self fulfillment or whether it was an act of sincerity to serve someone else. You can have so many Godly talents but if you are using it just to fulfill your own needs, its useless.

    Galatians 5:13
    English Standard Version (ESV)
13 For you were called to freedom, brothers. Only do not use your freedom as an opportunity for the flesh, but through love serve one another.

From what I’ve seen on the show, she has been a blessing to all these people. Im not sure about her in real life, so I wouldn’t judge without truth. And also spirits are real, no question. Judgement day happens at the end of the world, so where are all the dead spirits. Yeahh probably earth.

    God is Love.

Hi, thanks for your comment. Since the Holy Scriptures tells us that mediums, and things of the occult are an abomination to God, Christians know it’s wrong. Yes, God is love, but He also has to judge sin.

Exactly my point. The only one who can judge is God. So who are we to judge when we don’t know the whole truth.

Actually I took back my words. I am a christian and my Yahweh doesn’t judge. He is full of Love. If we are talking about sin. We are all sinners to begin with and we will continue to be one until we die. The only one who is not a sinner is Jesus Christ himself. A lie is not a better sin then killing, an accusation is not a better sin than rape. A sin is a sin, there is no level in sin. So if He judges, He has His work cut out for him since its pretty obvious.

If Christianity is driven by the ideology of a God who judges sin; then does that mean that many are doing ‘good’ just because they fear of being judge? Because they want to go to heaven? But not because they do it sincerely and meant it by heart. Isn’t that a lie? and Doesn’t that mean that we are essentially ‘using’ God as an object so that we can get something out of it, a.k.a. Heaven. Isn’t that the same as idolatry. If this is the case aren’t many Christians are in the wrong track.

I’m getting really tired on how majority of the world limits Christianity into a religion and always promotes itself as the ‘only way’ to salvation. It is MUCH more than just that. It is a way of life. It is not only a Sunday morning service. It is a relationship that you work on everyday, with God/Christ/HolySpirit. And yes they do talk back sometimes, with visions, audible voice, and lots of fun unexpected situations. If I had to be judged on every action I do, especially by God who sees every single thing I do.. man that doesn’t sound very loving.

God said not to have anything to do with mediums, “familiar spirits” and the rest of the occult because it is an abomination to Him. We are to have nothing to do with the spirit world. If we are truly Christians, we would warn those like Ms. Caputo and pray for them

Yes, God is love, but because he is also holy, His very nature demands that He judge sin and those who reject Jesus Christ as the only way to the Father.

God has spoken to me many times through dreams and through other people and circumstances. BTW, Christianity is not a religion, but a relationship with our Savior, Jesus Christ.

Take Care… God is good..all the time.

        Hello,
You are some kind of dangerous person, very limited spirit, full of fears, brain-washed… a long road is in front of you, to progress and open your mind to LOVE, understanding who you really are and who is God.
Don’t talk about what you don’t know, be good and charitable, generous, kind soul, that’s all you should do…
It’s very interesting that many religious persons are not aware and not spiritual, the less wise to talk about religion… they applie what they condamn…
        Best regards,
        A french Spirit

Hello, thanks for commenting. Your response is interesting and I’m not sure why you view me, a Christian, as dangerous. I am well aware of what the Holy Scriptures teaches about the occult and specifically, familiar spirits. The Bible says that spirits are never humans, but either angels or demons. The dead cannot come back and converse with the living. The Bible also says that we are not to dabble with the spirit world.

I’ve been raised a Catholic, however, grew up in a family who wasn’t that involved with Religion. My belief for God and heaven has always been on a balance scale. After watching Theresa Caputo, I became overjoyed with the “proof” from her readings that there is a after life and many souls are looking down to us. When speaking to my Jehovah’s witnesses friends, they told me that although her readings are true and accurate, her information is being obtained from Satan.

How can Theresa’s information come from Satan, when this whole situation is bringing me closer to believing in God and heaven? How can Satan benefit from that?

I’m only interested in Theresa, not other mediums or anything psychic relation.

Please provide some insight for me. Thank you.

    -Josef

If I wasn’t a born again Christian I might have been fascinated by mediums like Capputo and their ability to know things. When we read the Bible we see that a “spirit” never refers to humans, but angels and demons. Satan can and does masquerade as an “angel of light.” He is the great deceiver and the father of lies. aatan can work through anyone who is open to it like Caputpo is and deceive millions of people. The Bible tells us in Luke 16 that the dead have nothing to do with the living. They cannot come back and warn us, nor can they send anyone to speak with those alive on earth.

Theresa Caputo is a very warm, loving person, but she is misguided and has been deceived into believing that “spirit” as she calls her guide, is good, but it really is an evil spirit. These demons appear “good”, but in actuality, their aim is to keep us from knowing Jesus Christ and causing confusion. God said we are not to have anything to do with mediums or the spirit world. One may feel closer to God by listening to some positive things from mediums, but God said to dabble in the “spirit world” is an abomination. One cannot be close to God if one is disobeying Him.

I pray for Theresa all the time that she accept Jesus Christ as her Savior. Salvation is found through faith alone in Christ alone. He is the only way to God the Father and eternal life. It is more than simply believing there’s a God somewhere. For satan himself does also. James 2:19 says: “You believe that God is One; you do well; the demons also believe and tremble.” We cannot have a relationship with God if we are not spiritually born again.

Amen Justoneblogger!! Preach that truth!!! The WORD THE WORD THE WORD!!!! GOD IS LOVE… But He will not be mocked… We are in the days where the good is called bad and the bad is called good!! New Age teachings are penetrating the “Christian” churches!! JESUS IS THE ONLY WAY! No one comes to the Father except through the only Begotten Son of the living GOD!! His Name is above every name yet His WORD is above His Name!! He loves us so much He shed His Blood on the cross to wash away our sins…. We can’t make GOD into our image.. We can’t make our own ways of being righteous! We didn’t create ourselves.. We didn’t create the world.. He did… So who are we to tell Him what is acceptable and what isn’t? Those who love darkness will continue in darkness those who believe In CHRIST will continue to…

“My sheep listen to My voice; I know them,& they follow Me. I give them eternal life,& they will never die,& no one can steal them out of My hand. My Father gave My sheep to Me. He is greater than all,& no person can steal My sheep out of my Father’s hand. The Father & I are one.” -John 10:27-30

Amen! Christians need to agree with God and what He said in His word. These so called “spirit guides” are really demons. Satan’s aim is to take as many souls to hell as he can. The world will not believe this and it’s one of the reasons why Teresa Caputo is very popular.
