Does God Smile Upon Rain Dances?

23 Jul

Have you ever wondered how God must feel about the different world religions? I’m not just referring to Hinduism or Buddhism, although I did ponder a bit at all the religious icons and decorations when I was in a Chinese restaurant the other day. How about the “religion” of the natives in remote countries who believe certain animals or foods are sacred and have miraculous properties? Who paint their faces, cut their bodies, act like warriors and perform bloody rituals to appease the gods? Who believe that man can return after he dies, even as an insect?

Then there’s the ancient beliefs of Native Americans. How does God view  Shamans and rain dances? Don’t get me wrong, I have the highest respect for the Native American people. My wife is part Cherokee. It upsets me when I think about how the Indians came to America first and then the white man took the land. I also love the fact that they take care of their elders and are a people of few words. They are very spiritual too, but it’s more the worshiping of nature. Not the same type of spirituality that believes in one God and that His Son, Jesus Christ, is the Savior of the world. Whose source for Truth is the Holy Scriptures alone and understands that it is appointed once for man to die, then the judgment. No reincarnation.
Perhaps one day God will tell us.
